State Intellectual Freedom Committee Chairs
Article 4 of the Library Bill of Rights states the "Libraries should cooperate with all persons and groups concerned with resisting abridgement of free expression and free access to ideas." To facilitate such cooperation, libraries, individual librarians, and state intellectual freedom committees have joined with booksellers, publishers, artists, civil libertarians, journalists, authors, musicians and other groups and individuals with First Amendment concerns in local, state, and regional coalitions in defense of intellectual freedom. The ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom maintains a roster of Intellectual Freedom Committee chairs of ALA state and regional chapters, as well as for AASL affiliates.

Web Meetings
ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom will be hosting a series of online “State of the States” meetings for Intellectual Freedom Committee (IFC) chairs from ALA Chapters and AASL Affiliates. These meetings will be an opportunity for state IFC chairs to “meet” each other and to discuss state, local, and national intellectual freedom issues; projects & programs OIF and various chapter IFCs are working on; and how ALA can provide assistance and communication to your groups.
The next quarterly web meeting of this group will take place in August or September 2013. Contact Jonathan Kelley for more information.
Email List
OIF established a discussion e-list for state/regional IFC chairs and AASL affiliate contacts. Contact Jonathan Kelley to subscribe to the list.
