Libraries Build Communities
The Libraries Build Communities project began in New Orleans during the 2006 American Library Association Annual Conference, when ALA volunteers helped with projects related to the damage inflicted by Hurricane Katrina.
The final Libraries Build Communities, coordinated by the Chapter Relations Office, occurred in 2011, at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans. A day of service to assist the homeless was sponsored by ALA Conference Services in Seattle during the 2013 Midwinter Meeting.
