2013 NMRT Emerging Leader

Margaret Howard 2013 NMRT sponsored Emerging Leader The New Members Round Table is happy to announce Margaret Howard as the Class of 2013 Emerging  Leader sponsored by NMRT! Margaret is a Librarian with the Chesterfield County Public Library, and currently  resides in Richmond, VA. She received her MLIS from The University of North Carolina in Greensboro in 2010  and currently serves on the NMRT Annual Conference Professional Development Attendance Award  Committee and the NMRT Liaison Coordination and Support Committee. She has two dogs and enjoys  spending time with her husband, family and friends, and of course reading! In addition to financial support of  $1000 towards attendance at the ALA Midwinter Meeting and the ALA Annual Conference, NMRT is providing Margaret with several professional development opportunities within the Round Table.

"I am so happy and honored to be an Emerging Leader for 2013 and to be sponsored by NMRT," Margaret says. "I look forward to learning and growing professionally, collaborating with others in the program, and becoming more involved. I am truly a ‘new member‘ and there is so much for me to learn. I look forward to this experience and believe that I can positively impact ALA and librarianship."

The ALA Emerging Leaders program, now in its seventh year, was instituted under ALA Past President Leslie Burger, and is designed to enable library staff and information workers from across the country to participate in project planning workgroups; network with peers; gain an inside look into ALA structure; and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity early in their careers.

Previous NMRT-sponsored Emerging Leaders are Linda Crook (then Shippert) in 2008, Alexandra Tyler-Annen in 2009, Janel Kinlaw (then White) in 2010, Megan Hodge in 2011 and Heidi Steiner in 2012.

Congratulations to Margaret, and to all the NMRT members that are now part of the 2013 Class of ALA Emerging Leaders!
