Nominations of library professionals, educators sought for 2013 CSK–Hamilton Practitioner Award for Lifetime Achievement

CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Coretta Scott King – Virginia Hamilton Practitioner Award for Lifetime Achievement. The deadline to apply is Dec. 15, 2012.

ACRL seeks nominations for 2013 awards

CHICAGO — For more than three-quarters of a century, the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) has been committed to celebrating the achievements of academic and research librarians through the presentation of awards, grants and fellowships. Nomination period now open for awards representing ASCLA’s diverse areas of library services

CHICAGO — The Association for Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) welcomes nominations for its 2013 awards, which recognize projects focused on library services to people with disabilities; the advancement of library services for the blind and physically handicapped; exceptional achievement in extension and outreach services; exemplary leadership and achievement in consulting, state library services and library cooperatives; and service to ASCLA.

ALA Cultural Communities Fund to sponsor $5,000 award for excellence in library programming

CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office announced today that the ALA Cultural Communities Fund is the new sponsor for the ALA Excellence in Library Programming Award.

Friends of the Library groups recognized with United for Libraries’ Best Friends Awards

PHILADELPHIA —Nine Friends of the Library groups have received Best Friends Awards from United for Libraries.

Best Friends Awards are given to Friends groups for outstanding publicity and marketing materials that promote the group and its programs and projects. The awards do not evaluate the type or scope of Friends programs; rather, they evaluate the quality of the print and electronic materials used to promote Friends programs. Award categories include print newsletters, membership, digital publicity, program/special project publicity and fundraisers/book sales.

Call for nominations: The ALA Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects

CHICAGO — Nominations are being sought for the ALA Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects.  Nominations must be submitted to ALA's International Relations Office by Dec. 1.

Nominations sought for 2013 RUSA achievement awards, research and travel grants

CHICAGO — Nominations are now being accepted for the many achievement awards and conference travel and research grants offered by the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
