Pelfrey wins YALSA’s MAE Award for Best Literature Program for Teens

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) awarded Kristen Pelfrey, a teacher at Foothill Technology High School, Ventura, Calif., the 2013 MAE Award for Best Literature Program for Teens. The MAE Award provides $500 to the recipient and $500 to the recipient’s library and is sponsored by the Margaret A. Edwards Trust.

Kolderup wins YALSA/ABC-CLIO/Greenwood Service to Young Adults Achievement Award

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) awarded the YALSA/ABC-CLIO/Greenwood Service to Young Adults Achievement Award to Gretchen Kolderup. The $2,000 award, given every other year, recognizes a YALSA member who has demonstrated unique and sustained devotion to young adult services through substantial work in several initiatives.

Walker named 2013 ACRL/EBSS Distinguished Librarian

CHICAGO — Judith A. Walker, education/psychology librarian and professor at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, is the recipient of the 2013 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Education and Behavioral Sciences Section (EBSS) Distinguished Education and Behavioral Sciences Librarian Award.

This award honors a distinguished academic librarian who has made an outstanding contribution as an education and/or behavioral sciences librarian through accomplishments and service to the profession.

Schreur article wins Swanson Best of LRTS Award

CHICAGO — Philip Evan Schreur, head of the metadata department at Stanford University, has been awarded the 2013 Edward Swanson Memorial Best of LRTS Award for the article, "The Academy Unbound: Linked Data as Revolution," published in Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS), volume 55, number 4, October 2012, pages 227-237.

Ulrich’s Award to Beverley Geer

CHICAGO — The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) has named Beverley Geer as the 2013 recipient of the Ulrich’s Serials Librarianship Award. This award for distinguished contributions to serials is presented by the Continuing Resources Section of ALCTS and consists of a citation and $1,500 donated by ProQuest through its Serials Solutions business unit.  Ms. Geer will be presented her award at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony, Sunday, June 30, during the 2013 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

Tillett/Murray article wins ALCTS Outstanding Publication Award

CHICAGO — The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Outstanding Publication Award recipients for 2013 are Ronald Murray and Barbara Tillett for their article “Cataloging Theory in Search of Graph Theory and other Ivory Towers” published in Information Technology and Libraries, vol. 309, no. 4 (December 2011), p. 170-184.

Judy Kuhagen Mann Citation recipient

CHICAGO — The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) announces that Judith A. Kuhagen is the recipient of the 2013 Margaret Mann Citation presented by its Cataloging and Metadata Management  Section (CaMMS). The Mann Citation will be presented at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago, June 30, 2013.
