Nominations sought for 2013 RUSA achievement awards, research and travel grants

CHICAGO — Nominations are now being accepted for the many achievement awards and conference travel and research grants offered by the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).

PLA now accepting nominations for nine service awards and grants

CHICAGO — Through the generosity of sponsors, the Public Library Association (PLA) is offering nine awards/grants designed to highlight the best in public library service and to honor those bringing innovation, creativity and dedication to public libraries. ALCTS seeking 2013 Continuing Resources Awards candidates

CHICAGO —Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) awards for outstanding achievement and promise in the field of serials and continuing resources.  The awards are presented by the Continuing Resources Section of ALCTS.  One award honors an individual who shows outstanding promise in the field of serials, while the other recognizes an individual whose work represents the finest achievements in research, collaboration, creative work, leadership and service.            

RUSA presents lifetime achievement award to Statistical Abstract of the United States

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to the Census Bureau for the “Statistical Abstract of the United States” to acknowledge the abstract’s role as one of the premier reference sources for the past 133 years.

ALCTS 2013 preservation awards nominations sought

CHICAGO — Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) preservation awards. ALCTS presents three preservation awards, through its Preservation and Reformatting Section, to honor individuals whose work represents the finest achievements in research, collaboration, creative work, leadership and service in preservation or to support a new preservation staff member’s participation in preservation activities at the ALA Annual Conference.

CHICAGO — Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Ross Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award.  The deadline for nominations and supporting materials is Dec. 1.

The three awards honor individuals whose work represents the finest achievements in research, collaboration, creative work, leadership and service in the fields of cataloging and classification and acquisitions and for outstanding promise.

Nomination period for the 2012 I Love My Librarian Award open through September 12

CHICAGO — Library users can now nominate a librarian for the 2012 Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award.  The nomination form is available on atyourlibrary.org, the American Library Association’s (ALA) public awareness website.  

The award invites library users to recognize the accomplishments of librarians in public, school, college, community college and university libraries for their efforts to improve the lives of people in their community.  

AASL awards season opens with more than $50,000 in opportunities

CHICAGO — The American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) prestigious awards program will offer more than $50,000 in awards in 2013 to AASL members. AASL’s 10 awards recognize excellence and showcase best practices in the school library field in categories that include research, collaboration, leadership and innovation. AASL personal members are required to fill out applications using AASL’s online awards database.
