CHICAGO – The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) has selected five winners and one honorable mention for the 2017 Katharine Kyes Leab and Daniel J. Leab “American Book Prices Current” Exhibition Awards.
CHICAGO – Mary Catherine Coleman, Sarah Beebe, Sarah Weitz, Bev Greenberg, and Tisha Johnson from Francis W. Parker School in Chicago, Ill., are the recipients of the 2017 American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) Collaborative School Library Award for their project “Dot Day: How Do We Work Together as Collaborators to Make Our Mark?” Sponsored by Upstart, the $2,500 award recognizes school librarian and teacher collaboration during the development and implementation of a curriculum-supporting program using school library resources.
Timothy Cole, Head of the Mathematics Library and Professor of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Frederick G. Kilgour Award for Research in Library and Information Technology, sponsored by OCLC and the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA). Professor Cole also holds appointments in the Center for Informatics Research in Science and Scholarship (CIRSS) and the University Library.
CHICAGO – Frank Scholze, library director at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and Michael Witt, associate professor of library science at Purdue University, have been selected as the 2017 recipients of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Science and Technology Section (STS) Oberly Award for Bibliography in the Agricultural or Natural Sciences for “re3data.org,” a registry of research data repositories.
The award will be presented during the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
CHICAGO--Stephanie Graves, Director of Learning & Outreach at Texas A&M University Libraries, was selected as the 2017 winner of the ETS Achievement Award, administered by the Emerging Technologies Section (ETS) of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA).
CHICAGO – The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), is pleased to announce that Alanna Aiko Moore, academic liaison coordinator and librarian for sociology, ethnic studies, and gender studies at the University of California-San Diego (UCSD), has been chosen to receive the 2017 University Libraries Sections (ULS) Outstanding Professional Development Award.
The $1,000 award and plaque, donated by Library Juice Academy, will be presented to Moore at the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
CHICAGO – Marcy Bidney, curator, American Geographical Society Library at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has been selected to receive the 2017 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Western European Studies Section (WESS) / Slavic and East European Section (SEES) De Gruyter European Librarianship Study Grant for her project, “Where the Water Flows: Documenting Collections of late 19th and early 20th century Nautical Charts.”
