Accepting Applicants for the Mango/NMRT Professional Development Grant

ALA's New Members Round Table (NMRT) is now accepting applications to the Mango/NMRT Professional Development Grant. Given on an annual basis, the award is intended to help offset the cost of attending the ALA Annual Conference. The upcoming Annual Conference will be held June 21 – June 26, 2018 in New Orleans, LA. The $1000 award covers limited fees related to airfare, lodging, and conference registration. Deadline to apply is December 15, 2017.

Helmick awarded NMRT Professional Development Grant

CHICAGO — The 2014 New Members Round Table (NMRT) Professional Development Grant Award Committee is pleased to announce that Samantha Helmick has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the NMRT Professional Development Grant. This award provides funding to cover airfare, lodging and conference registration fees for attendance at the American Library Association Annual Conference and fosters in-person participation in ALA and NMRT professional activities. 

NMRT award offers chance to attend Annual Conference

CHICAGO — The New Member Roundtable (NMRT) announces the Annual Conference Professional Development Attendance Award.

NMRT members are invited to submit an essay to win a ticket to attend a ticketed event of their choice at the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas. The essay contest is open to all NMRT members who are not currently serving on the Annual Conference Professional Development Award Committee or the NMRT Executive Board.

Kate Tkacik selected as NMRT's 2014 Emerging Leader recipient

CHICAGO - The New Members Round Table (NMRT) announced Kate Tkacik as its representative in the 2014 Emerging Leaders program. Tkacik is currently working as a business librarian with the Bank of Montreal Business Research Group in Chicago.

LLAMA/NMRT New Leaders Discussion Group to host discussion on public speaking skills for librarians

CHICAGO — Public speaking is a vital skill for all librarians, but outreach and other events don’t always go quite as planned.  Everyone should be prepared to improvise and maintain their composure when faced with unexpected challenges.  Both novice and experienced librarians and library workers are invited to learn from colleagues and share their own experiences during the LLAMA/NMRT New Leaders Discussion Group from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m.
