2012 ALA Presidential Citations for Innovative International Library Projects announced

CHICAGO — Every year, libraries across the world introduce - and sustain - projects that make a difference to their citizens and connect the international community in genuine and new ways.  

The 2012 recipients of the ALA Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects are:

Assessing rebuilding efforts in Haiti: New libraries slowly rising, opening

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - “Two years after the earthquake, vast numbers of Haitian people are still struggling just to return to something resembling normal life,” said Leonard Kniffel, who returned March 5 from Port-au-Prince after a week of talks with librarians and government officials about the American Library Association’s Haiti Library Relief fund.
