Longlist for 2017 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction announced

Forty-seven books (24 fiction, 23 nonfiction) have been selected for the longlist for the 2017 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction. The list is now available on the awards’ website. The six-title shortlist—three each for the fiction and nonfiction medals—will be chosen from these 47 titles and announced on October 26, 2016.

Call for nominations: RUSA achievement awards and grants

CHICAGO—Beginning September 1, 2016, the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) will open the nomination period for its annual series of achievement awards and grants. Nominations and supporting materials for most awards must be submitted by December 9, 2016**.

LeBeau elected RUSA 2017-2018 president

CHICAGO — Chris LeBeau, assistant teaching professor /learning and research librarian at the University of Missouri, iSchool / University of Missouri-Kansas City, has been elected the 2017-2018 president of the Reference and User Services Association, (RUSA). Prior to working in her current position, LeBeau was the reference librarian and coordinator of electronic services at Creighton University.
