ALA and IIDA announce winners of the 2012 Library Interior Design Competition

CHICAGO — The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the Buildings and Equipment Section of the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA) have selected the winners of the 2012 Library Interior Design Competition. The biennial awards honor excellence in library interior design, incorporating aesthetics, design creativity, function and satisfaction of the client's objectives. Seven winners and three honorable mentions were chosen out of 117 projects submitted from throughout North America.

PR Xchange 'Best of Show' winners announced

CHICAGO — The LLAMA Public Relations and Marketing Section (PRMS) PR Xchange Committee announced today the results of this year’s “Best of Show” competition for library publicity materials.  Several hundred entries in print and electronic formats were submitted from a wide array of libraries, including public, academic, school, state and consortiums. Entries were appraised on the quality of content, originality, design, format and effectiveness.

Catherine R. Friedman president-elect of the Library Leadership and Management Association

CHICAGO —The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) announced today that Catherine R. Friedman has been elected as president-elect.  She is associate university librarian for user services, University of California- San Diego Libraries.

Winners of the 2012 John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award

CHICAGO — Eight libraries were selected for the John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award, which recognizes and honors outstanding achievement in library public relations. The John Cotton Dana (JCD) honor has been awarded continuously since 1946 and is sponsored by EBSCO, the H.W. Wilson Foundation and the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA). It is considered to be the most prestigious of all library awards in the field of public relations.
