ACRL/LLAMA Presidents’ Program at 2013 ALA Annual, leadership moment contest

CHICAGO – Join the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) for their joint Presidents’ Program at the 2013 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago. Titled “Standing on Marbles: Ensuring Steady Leadership in Unsteady Times,” the program will feature noted author, executive coach and leadership consultant Karol M. Wasylyshyn.

Lizabeth A. Wilson wins 2013 Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial award

CHICAGO — Lizabeth (Betsy) A. Wilson, dean of university libraries at the University of Washington (UW), has been named the 2013 winner of the Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award. Wilson will receive a cash award and citation during the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

Named in honor of one of the pioneers of library automation, the Atkinson Award recognizes an academic librarian who has made significant contributions in the area of library automation or management, and has made notable improvements in library services or research.

LLAMA presents leadership development seminar at Midwinter Meeting

CHICAGO — The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) will present “Mindful Leadership through Tough Times” from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, during the American Library Association’s (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Seattle.

John Cotton Dana Award accepting entries for outstanding library public relations: Eight $10,000 grants will be awarded

CHICAGO —The American Library Association (ALA) is now accepting submissions for the John Cotton Dana Award (JCD). The award, which is managed by the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) division of ALA, honors outstanding library public relations. Eight $10,000 grants are awarded each year by the H.W. Wilson Foundation and the annual Awards Tea is sponsored by the ALA and EBSCO Publishing.

2013 ALA/AIA Library Building Awards Competition now open

CHICAGO — The 2013 AIA/ALA Library Building Awards Call for Entries (PDF) is now available.  The awards, managed by ALA/LLAMA and the American Institute of Architects (AIA), encourage excellence in the architectural design and planning of libraries and recognize accomplishments in library architecture.  The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Eastern time on Jan. 11, 2013.
