Bohyun Kim, Associate Director for Library Applications and Knowledge Systems at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, has been elected as the 2018-2019 president of the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA). Kim will serve as vice-president/president-elect during 2017-18 and will assume the presidency in July 2018. "I’m honored to be elected and will do my best to serve the LITA membership,” she said when notified.
Timothy Cole, Head of the Mathematics Library and Professor of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Frederick G. Kilgour Award for Research in Library and Information Technology, sponsored by OCLC and the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA). Professor Cole also holds appointments in the Center for Informatics Research in Science and Scholarship (CIRSS) and the University Library.
CHICAGO — Mark Sandler, principal at Novel Solutions Consulting, has been named the 2017 winner of the Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award. Sandler will receive a cash award and citation during the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
Named in honor of one of the pioneers of library automation, the Atkinson Award recognizes an academic librarian who has made significant contributions in the area of library automation or management and has made notable improvements in library services or research.
