United for Libraries to host ‘Isn’t it Romantic?’ at ALA Annual Conference

PHILADELPHIA United for Libraries will present “Isn’t it Romantic?”, an author panel featuring romance writers, 8:30-10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28 at the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas.

Popular romance authors Shelley Coriell, Deborah Coonts, Jeaniene Frost, Jill Shalvis and Ryan Winfield will discuss their books and sign copies following the program, which will be moderated by Barbara Hoffert, editor of Library Journal’s “Prepub Alert.” An author book signing will follow.

Evanovich and Rae join lineup for ‘The Laugh’s On Us,’ sponsored by SAGE

PHILADELPHIA — Stephanie Evanovich and Issa Rae will join the lineup of authors at United for Libraries’ “The Laugh’s On Us," sponsored by SAGE, featuring standup comedian and author Paula Poundstone, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 at the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas.

United for Libraries presents Public Service Award to Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.)

PHILADELPHIA —  Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) accepted the 2014 Public Service Award, given by United for Libraries, a division of the American Library Association (ALA), on May 5 during National Library Legislative Day activities in Washington, D.C. He was introduced by Vermont State Librarian Martha Reid.

Advocate for libraries by participating in Virtual Library Legislative Day May 6

PHILADELPHIA – This week marks the 40th annual National Library Legislative Day. Advocate for libraries by participating in Virtual Library Legislative Day May 6

PHILADELPHIA – Virtual Library Legislative Day is part of the American Library Association’s (ALA) National Library Legislative Day on May 5-6, when hundreds of library advocates will be on Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and their staffs. Library advocates who cannot make it to Capitol Hill for the event can still be a part of the effort by calling and/or emailing their elected officials on May 6, or anytime the week of May 5-9.
