ACRL program proposals for 2017 ALA Annual Conference

CHICAGO – The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) invites its committees, sections, interest groups and individual members to consider submitting program proposals for the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
 
There will be a virtual meeting at 1:00 p.m. CST on April 28, 2016, for ACRL units and members interested in submitting proposals for a 2017 ALA Annual Conference program.

ACRL becomes key dissemination partner for the NMC Horizon Report > Library Edition

CHICAGO; AUSTIN, TEXAS — The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) has joined the network of partners behind the NMC Horizon Report > Library Edition. Since the inaugural report in 2014, the academic and research library-focused edition of the NMC Horizon Report series has been a collaboration between the NMC, the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) Chur, the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) Hannover, and ETH-Bibliothek Zürich.

A practical guide to ACRL’s Visual Literacy Competency Standards

Digital technologies have made it possible for almost anyone to create and share visual media. Yet the pervasiveness of images and visual media does not necessarily mean that individuals are able to critically view, use, and produce visual content.

Since the launch of the program in 2013, thousands of participants have attended these free interactive webinars, with topics ranging from using social media to build library communities and the latest reference databases to open access. 

Special C&RL issue focuses on assessment as action research

CHICAGO – The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) has released a special issue of the journal College & Research Libraries (C&RL) featuring a selection of seven action research studies by teams who participated in the ACRL program Assessment in Action: Academic Libraries and Student Success (AiA).

Denda wins 2016 ACRL WGSS Career Achievement Award

CHICAGO – Kayo Denda, head of the Margery Somers Foster Center and Women’s Studies librarian at Rutgers University, has been selected as the 2016 winner of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Women and Gender Studies Section (WGSS) Career Achievement Award. The award honors significant long-standing contributions to women’s studies in the field of librarianship over the course of a career.

A plaque will be presented to Denda at a WGSS event during the ALA Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.
