Since the launch of the program in 2013, thousands of participants have attended these free interactive webinars, with topics ranging from using social media to build library communities and the latest reference databases to open access.
CHICAGO – Deborah L. Schaeffer, instruction and reference librarian and liaison librarian to the School of Social Work (retired) at California State University-Los Angeles, is the recipient of the 2017 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Education and Behavioral Sciences Section (EBSS) Distinguished Education and Behavioral Sciences Librarian Award.
This award honors a distinguished academic librarian who has made an outstanding contribution as an education and/or behavioral sciences librarian through accomplishments and service to the profession.
CHICAGO – Julie A. Leuzinger, associate librarian and head of library learning services at the University of North Texas, has been awarded the 2017 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Politics, Policy, and International Relations Section (PPIRS) Marta Lange/SAGE-CQ Press Award. The award, established in 1996 by the ACRL Law and Political Science Section (LPSS), honors an academic or law librarian who has made distinguished contributions to bibliography and information service in law or political science.
CHICAGO – Heather Blicher, online learning librarian at Northern Virginia Community College, has been named the 2017 recipient of the Routledge Distance Learning Librarianship Conference Sponsorship Award.
This annual award, sponsored by Routledge/Taylor & Francis Group, and administrated by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Distance Learning Section (DLS), honors an ACRL member working in the field of, or contributing to, the success of distance learning librarianship or related library service in higher education.
CHICAGO – Jennifer Hunter and Christina Riehman-Murphy, reference and instruction librarians at Penn State-Abington, have been named the 2017 recipient of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) College Libraries Section (CLS) Innovation in College Librarianship Award for their work on the Research Parties and TED Talk as Research Inspiration programs.
This annual award honors ALA members who have demonstrated a capacity for innovation in their work with undergraduates, instructors and/or the library community.
CHICAGO – Mary MacDonald, professor and head of instructional services at the University of Rhode Island, is the winner of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section’s (IS) Miriam Dudley Instruction Librarian Award. The award honors Miriam Dudley, whose efforts in the field of information literacy led to the formation of IS. The honor recognizes a librarian who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of instruction in a college or research library environment.
CHICAGO – Kelly McElroy, student engagement and community outreach librarian at Oregon State University, and Nicole Pagowsky, associate librarian and instruction coordinator in the Research and Learning Department at the University of Arizona, have been chosen as the winners of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section (IS) Ilene F. Rockman Publication of the Year Award as editors of the two-volume book "Critical Library Pedagogy Handbook," published in 2016 by ACRL.
CHICAGO— Susan Gardner Archambault and Lindsey McLean have been selected to receive the 2017 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section (IS) Innovation award for their work on Project CORA: Community of Online Research Assignments, an open access resource for faculty and librarians looking for a collaborative space to share and adapt research assignments, as well as build a virtual community of practice for educators interested in teaching concepts related to information literacy.
