The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), announced Tori Ann Ogawa of the Darien Library in Darien, Conn. as its representative in the 2017 Emerging Leader program.

Cappadonia, Patterson Win Friends of ALSC Mini Institute Scholarships

The Friends of ALSC have awarded scholarships to the ALSC Mini Institute in Atlanta to Keturah Cappadonia and Julie Patterson. These scholarships were awarded in efforts to support ALSC’s goal of continuing education for children’s librarians The scholarships include Mini Institute registration and lodging travel stipend.

ALSC now accepting applications for 2017 ALSC/Candlewick Press 'Light the Way' Grant

CHICAGO — The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Library Service to Special Population Children and Their Caregivers Committee are now accepting online applications for the 2017 Light the Way: Library Outreach to the Underserved grant. This $3,000 grant, made possible by Candlewick Press in honor of Newbery Medalist and Geisel Honoree author Kate DiCamillo, will go to a library conducting exemplary outreach to underserved populations through a new program or an expansion of work already being done.

ALSC now accepting applications for 2017 Maureen Hayes Author/Illustrator Award

CHICAGO — The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Grants Administration Committee are now accepting online applications for the 2017 Maureen Hayes Author/Illustrator Award. This $4,000 award, made possible by an annual gift from Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing in honor of Maureen Hayes, brings together children and nationally recognized authors/illustrators by funding an author/illustrator visit to a library.
