2014 'Building a Home Library' bibliographies now available

CHICAGO The American Library Association (ALA) – Children’s Book Council (CBC) Joint Committee, with cooperation from the Association for Library Service to Children’s Quicklists Consulting Committee, has created four Building a Home Library bibliographies. These downloadable lists are intended to provide guidance to parents, grandparents and others interested in assembling a high-quality library for their children at home.

ALSC releases 2014 Summer Reading Lists

CHICAGO The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has updated and released three Summer Reading lists. The lists are full of book titles to keep children engaged in reading throughout the summer. 

ALSC past-president donation to support additional 2014-2015 ALSC Spectrum Scholar

CHICAGO – Ellen Fader, past-president (2005-2006) of The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has provided a generous donation to the Spectrum Scholarship.

Medlar elected ALSC 2015-2016 president

CHICAGO Andrew Medlar, assistant commissioner for collections, Chicago Public Library, has been elected vice president/president-elect of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA). 
 
“I'm extremely grateful and honored to be able to serve our collaborative community, which shares such a strong commitment to ‘creating a better future for children through libraries,’” Medlar said.
