CHICAGO—The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) invites applications and nominations for the position of Editor of ALCTS News, the association’s official news source. ALCTS News is a digital news website. The editor will be appointed for a renewable three-year term, beginning July 1, 2017 just after the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

Mark Sandler wins 2017 Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award

CHICAGO — Mark Sandler, principal at Novel Solutions Consulting, has been named the 2017 winner of the Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award. Sandler will receive a cash award and citation during the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

Named in honor of one of the pioneers of library automation, the Atkinson Award recognizes an academic librarian who has made significant contributions in the area of library automation or management and has made notable improvements in library services or research.

CHICAGO—The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) is pleased to announce its catalog of 2017 online education offerings. Focusing on the changing landscape of technical services, ALCTS Continuing Education features online programming on staff and leadership development, cataloging and gender, Library of Congress subject headings and succession planning. In addition, ALCTS will host its first-ever, multi-day virtual forum the ALCTS Exchange.

ALCTS Midwinter Symposium celebrates equity, diversity and inclusion

CHICAGO — On Friday, Jan. 20, the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) will present its Midwinter Symposium Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Creating a New Future for Library Collections at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Atlanta.

ALCTS to host its first online interactive forum in May 2017

CHICAGO — In May 2017, the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) will hold its first-ever fully online event the ALCTS Exchange. Part of the upcoming 60th anniversary of ALCTS, the ALCTS Exchange celebrates the excellence at the intersections of libraries, collection management, acquisitions, metadata and cataloging, preservation and technology with four days of interactive synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.

Anastasia Chiu named 2017 ALCTS Emerging Leader

CHICAGO — Anastasia Chiu, resident librarian at the Samuel L. Paley Library at Temple University, has been selected as the ALCTS-sponsored Emerging Leader for 2016-2017. Each year, the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) sponsors one Emerging Leader who has chosen collections and technical services as a career and is a member of ALCTS.
