Martin elected ALCTS President for 2018-2019

CHICAGO —Kristin E. Martin, electronic resources management librarian, University of Chicago, has been elected the 2018-2019 President of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS).

She previously held positions in electronic resources management and cataloging at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Martin holds an M.S.L.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.A. and B.M.A. from the University of Michigan.

New ALCTS award honors Lois Mai Chan

Textile designer Franklin Habit to serve as Preservation Week® Honorary Chair

Ross Atkinson award given to Jeanne Drewes

CHICAGO — The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) is pleased to name Jeanne Drewes, chief of the Binding & Collections Care Division and the Deacidification Program at the Library of Congress, as the 2017 recipient of the Ross Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award. The award honors the memory of Ross Atkinson, a distinguished library leader, author and scholar whose extraordinary service to ALCTS and the library community-at-large serves as a model for those in the field.

Robert Bremer recipient of Ulrich’s Serials Librarianship Award

CHICAGO—The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) congratulates the recipient of the 2017 Ulrich’s Serials Librarianship Award, Robert Bremer. Presented by the Continuing Resources Section (CRS) of ALCTS, this award consists of a citation and $1,500 donated by ProQuest and is given for distinguished contributions to serials librarianship.

Swanson Best of LRTS Award to Kelly J. Thompson

CHICAGO—Kelly J. Thompson, metadata analyst librarian at the University of Minnesota Libraries, has been awarded the 2017 Edward Swanson Memorial Best of LRTS Award for the article, “More Than a Name: A Content Analysis of Name Authority Records for Authors Who Self-Identify as Trans,” published in Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS), volume 60, number 3, July 2016, pages 140-155.

John Dewees awarded Jan Merrill-Oldham Professional Development Grant

CHICAGO—The 2017 Jan Merrill-Oldham Professional Development Grant has been awarded to John Dewees, library associate at The Ohio State University Libraries, in Columbus, Ohio.
