ASCLA offers Annual preconference on forming partnerships to serve incarcerated youth

CHICAGO — The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is offering a preconference showing how librarians are collaborating to serve incarcerated youth,  from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.Friday June 27, 2014 during the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas.

ASCLA award winners recognized for innovative contributions to populations with disabilities

CHICAGO —The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) 2014 Award winners have been selected. The awards program recognizes outstanding achievement within the library profession by librarians and libraries for significant current or past achievements, including publications, program development and leadership in the profession.

CHICAGO – The Association for Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) is now accepting nominations for its 2014 awards, which recognize projects focused on library services to people with disabilities; the advancement of library services for the blind and physically handicapped; exceptional achievement in extension and outreach services; exemplary leadership and achievement in consulting, state library services and library cooperatives; and service to ASCLA.

Accessibility advocate Ruth Nussbaum wins ASCLA’s 2013 Cathleen Bourdon Service Award

Nussbaum, retired reference librarian, National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress, is the recipient of the 2013 Cathleen Bourdon Service Award for exceptional service to and sustained leadership for the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA), a division of ALA.

Mother Goose on the Loose’s Diamant-Cohen receives ASCLA Leadership and Professional Achievement award

CHICAGO — Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen has been named the recipient of the 2013 ASCLA Leadership and Professional Achievement Award — an annual honor presented to an ASCLA member exemplifying leadership and achievement in one or more of the following areas: consulting, library cooperation, networking, statewide services and programs and state library development.
