Thousands of public library professionals depart Indianapolis with innovative skills to expand the role of library service

CHICAGO – Humorist and author David Sedaris brought PLA 2014, the nation’s largest public library conference, to a laugh-filled close. Nearly 8,000 librarians, library workers, exhibitors and supporters participated in five days of programs that explored the changing role of public libraries. Sessions and events featured the nation’s leading innovators and professionals both within and outside of the library community.

The American Library Association (ALA), in collaboration with the Public Library Association (PLA) and the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, will offer a series of sessions at the PLA 2014 Conference that will help librarians leverage their trusted position in the community to engage people on issues that matter.

Early Bird promotion for PLA 2014 offers chance to win set of 16 signed books from Green, Pauley, Sedaris and others

CHICAGO – The Public Library Association (PLA), with generous support from several publishers, has kicked off the Sweet 16 Early Bird Promotion for the PLA 2014 Conference, March 11-15, in Indianapolis. Individuals who register by the Early Bird deadline of Jan 10 will be automatically entered to win one set of 16 signed books from published PLA 2014 Special Event speakers. PLA has five sets of books to give away.
