CHICAGO – Four finalists have been chosen in the contest to name the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) 16th National Conference & Exhibition on-site daily newspaper. AASL members and conference attendees can now vote at national.aasl.org/daily-contest for one of the following names:

AASL13’s One Book, One Conference gets the right things done

CHICAGO — The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) national conference committee has named “18 Minutes: Find Your Focus, Master Distraction, and Get the Right Things Done” as the One Book, One Conference read for the AASL 16th National Conference & Exhibition. Written by closing general session speaker, Peter Bregman, the book outlines a three-step process for prioritizing a 9 hour workday which takes only 18 minutes.

The AASL13 conference daily – “Your Name Here”

CHICAGO – A new contest launched by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) will rename the AASL 16th National Conference & Exhibition onsite daily newspaper. Formerly known as the AASL Advocate, AASL members and national conference attendees are invited to submit names and vote online for their favorite submission.  The winning name will be revealed with the release of the electronic preview edition of the paper on Oct. 14, 2013. The person submitting the winning entry will receive a prize of their choice of one AASL publication.

Rise to the collaboration challenge on the AASL13 Ning!

CHICAGO – All are invited to join the AASL13 conversation by joining the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) 16th National Conference & Exhibition Ning at ning.aasl.org. The Ning provides attendees a chance to jumpstart the AASL13 conversation and maintain the connections made while in Hartford. It also offers those unable to attend the chance to share in the excitement of national conference. The conference, themed “Rising to the Challenge,” will be held Nov. 14-17, 2013, in Hartford, Conn.

Don't miss early bird registration rates for AASL national conference

CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) encourages members planning to register for the AASL 16th National Conference & Exhibition to do so before the Aug. 22 early bird registration deadline by visiting national.aasl.org. On Aug. 23, registration rates will be raised $50, and after Oct. 17, AASL members can expect to pay $100 more for registration. The conference, themed “Rising to the Challenge,” will be held Nov. 14-17, 2013, in Hartford, Conn.

Showcase encourages school librarians to ‘rise to the challenge’ one idea at a time

CHICAGO — Attendees of the AASL 16th National Conference & Exhibition are invited to jump start their conference experience by attending the IDEAxCHANGE. The IDEAxCHANGE, formerly the Exploratorium, showcases best practices from school library professionals from across the country. This two hour event, open to all registrants, takes place prior to the opening general session for the conference taking place Nov. 14-17, 2013, in Hartford, Conn.

Independent school librarians invited to network at AASL national conference

CHICAGO — The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) 16th National Conference & Exhibition, taking place Nov. 14-17, 2013, in Hartford, Conn., will host events encouraging school librarians working in independent schools to network and build community. The conference, “Rising to the Challenge,” will feature an Independent School Section (ISS) networking reception and two tours to local independent schools. Thirty AASL members receive grants to attend first national conference

CHICAGO – Thirty members of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) have been awarded a $750 travel grant in order to attend their first AASL national conference. Generously sponsored by Bound To Stay Bound Books, Inc. (BTSB), the grants will allow recipients to secure housing, transportation and/or registration for the AASL 16th National Conference & Exhibition taking place Nov. 14-17, 2013, in Hartford, Conn.

Harvard innovation education fellow Tony Wagner opens AASL national conference

CHICAGO — Education innovator and thought leader Tony Wagner will headline the opening general session at the American Association of School Librarians' (AASL) 16th National Conference and Exhibition taking place Nov. 14-17, 2013, in Hartford, Conn. His presentation will draw on his more than 25 years of education consulting experience focused on creating strategies to improve learning for all students. Peter Bregman helps school librarians get the ‘right things’ done at AASL’s national conference

 
CHICAGO – Author and leadership consultant Peter Bregman, will headline the closing general session at the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) 16th National Conference and Exhibition. Bregman’s presentation, focusing on practical tips for making the most of the work day, will close out the conference taking place Nov. 14-17, 2013, in Hartford, Conn.
