ACRL funds 2018-19 Spectrum Scholar Stephanie Akau

CHICAGO – As part of its ongoing commitment to furthering equity, diversity and inclusion in librarianship, the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) is supporting Stephanie Akau as its 2018-19 Spectrum Scholar. Akau currently works as a library information specialist at the University of New Mexico and is a student in the MLIS program at San Jose State University.

Harris named 2018-2019 YALSA Spectrum Scholar

CHICAGO —The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has named Cearra Harris as its 2018-2019 Spectrum Scholar.

Harris’ career began at Richland Library in Columbia, SC. While working at Richland Library, Harris fell in love with programming, and developed a strong passion for serving the at-risk community. She is currently the Teen Services Specialist at the Charlotte (North Carolina) Mecklenburg Library and is pursuing an MLIS at University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

ALA awards Spectrum Scholarships for 2018

CHICAGO - Today, the American Library Association's (ALA) Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services awards 2018-2019 Spectrum Scholarships to 62 exceptional students pursuing graduate degrees in library and information studies.  Since 1997, the ALA has awarded more than 1,100 Spectrum Scholarships.  In the 2018 application cycle, the Spectrum Scholarship Program received three times as many applications as there were available scholarships, and the majority of this year’s applicants were deemed highly fundable.  A prestigious committee of ten jurors selected this year’s Spectrum

Tuliao swims to honor mentors and raise funds for Spectrum

Miriam Tuliao has announced that she will participate in the Foster Lake Cable Swims (Sanctioned OW, 2 Mile Cable National Championship) to raise funds for the Spectrum Scholarship Program. The event will take place on July 12th in Sweet Home, Oregon.  This is Tuliao's eleventh year swimming to raise funds for ALA’s Spectrum Scholarship Program.

Retired ALA Finance Director continues to go the extra mile for Spectrum

Gregory Calloway, retired Associate Executive Director of Finance of the American Library Association (ALA) will once again be raising funds in support of the ALA’s Spectrum Scholarship Program by participating in the Ricky Byrdsong Memorial Race Against Hate in Evanston, Ill on June 17.

Library Systems & Services supports LITA Spectrum Scholarship for future library leader

CHICAGO, June 12, 2017 - Library Systems & Services (LS&S) has increased its sponsorship level of the 2017-2018 LITA Spectrum Scholarship in honor of the 20th Anniversary of the Spectrum Scholarship Program of the American Library Association (ALA). The Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) Spectrum scholarship encourages interest in the library automation field among aspiring librarians with leadership potential.

NYC librarian swims to raise funds for Spectrum in memory of Lynn Taylor

Miriam Tuliao, assistant director of selection at BookOps, announced that she will participate in the Grimaldo's Mile Swim to raise funds for the Spectrum Scholarship Program.  The event will be taking place in Brooklyn, NY on July 30, 2016.
