ALA awards 51 Spectrum Scholarships for 2013-2014

CHICAGO — Today, the American Library Association's (ALA) Office for Diversity awards 2013-2014 Spectrum Scholarships to 51 exceptional students pursuing graduate degrees in library and information studies. Since 1997, the ALA has awarded more than 800 Spectrum Scholarships.

AASL sponsors two Spectrum Scholars to attend Fall Forum

CHICAGO — The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) will sponsor the travel, lodging and attendance of two Spectrum Scholars, Judith Guzman-Montes and Connie Thompson, at the AASL 2012 Fall Forum. Transliteracy and the School Library Program, will be held Oct. 12-13, 2012, in Greenville, S.C., and simultaneously broadcast to participating satellite sites in Doylestown, Pa.; Homestead, Pa.; Richardson, Texas; and San Jose, Calif.

Gwaradzimba named ALSC Spectrum Scholar

CHICAGO —The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) chose Ticha Gwaradzimba as its 2012-2013 Spectrum Scholar.  Gwaradzimba is currently pursuing her master's in Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.

CHICAGO —This year, the American Library Association's (ALA) Office for Diversity is awarding a new round of 50 Spectrum Scholarships.

PLA continues its support of Spectrum Presidential Initiative

CHICAGO — The Public Library Association (PLA) has reaffirmed its commitment to diversity in the library profession through a gift of $5,000 to the American Library Association’s (ALA) Spectrum Scholarship Program.  In recognition of PLA’s contributions to the Spectrum Presidential Initiative, a PLA Spectrum Scholarship will be designated in the June 2012 awards.  The PLA Spectrum Scholarship will be awarded to a Spectrum applicant who expresses an interest in public libraries.
