CHICAGO – Registration is now open for the 2019 American Association of School Librarians (AASL) National Conference & Exhibition. The conference, taking place Nov. 14-16, 2019, in Louisville, Kentucky, will bring together school librarians, administrators, authors, and exhibitors for in-depth learning and networking. Registration rates and date-sensitive, money-saving promo codes can be found at national.aasl.org.

"The new standards for the profession were unveiled at our last national conference," said Heather Jankowski, national conference committee co-chair. "Now it's time for school librarians to meet in Louisville to learn from one another and share experiences, new standards-based lessons, challenges and successes."

Preconference workshops and concurrent sessions will be rooted in AASL's "National School Library Standards for Learners, School Librarians, and School Libraries," giving school librarians and other educator attendees an opportunity to dig deep into the guiding document of the profession.

Other events include general sessions with Ellen Oh, author and co-founder of We Need Diverse Books, Jarrett J. Krosoczka, author of the National Book Award finalist "Hey, Kiddo," and Dr. Adolph Brown, III, educator, author, and research scientist. The conference also features author sessions at both the elementary and secondary grade levels, more than 100 exhibitors, and a Technology Corner and Authorpalooza in the exhibit hall.

"The conference offers librarians at all levels, ages, and stages to come together in a collaborative, warm atmosphere and share their skills, hopes, and dreams for their students," Jankowski elaborated. "Louisville, Kentucky, is a great location in the center of the country to bring people together in a unique setting. The conference will be one for the books!"

Full conference registration provides school librarian attendees the opportunity to invite their administrator to attend the conference at no extra cost. In addition, each attendee will receive complimentary meal tickets for Friday and Saturday lunches and coffee each morning.

The AASL National Conference & Exhibition is the only national conference dedicated solely to the needs of school librarians and their roles as educational leaders. Those communicating about the national conference are encouraged to use the official hashtag, #aasl19.
