PLA now accepting nominations for 10 service awards and grants for 2018

CHICAGO – Through the generosity of sponsors, the Public Library Association (PLA) is offering 10 awards and grants designed to highlight the best in public library service and to honor those bringing innovation, creativity and dedication to public libraries. Many of the awards include an honorarium; please visit the website for details on each award and nominate yourself, a colleague, or your library through Dec. 4, 2017.
New this year is The Singer Group Helping Communities Come Together Award. This award will recognize a public library’s ability to identify community needs specifically in times of crisis and division, and respond in creative and exemplary ways to critical challenges. Such challenges may be community specific or the result of national events that strain communities, including, but not limited to, political disagreements, violence, natural disasters, and divisions along racial, ethnic or other lines.

The PLA Award Nomination Form is open from now until 11:59 p.m. CT on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017. An award jury appointed by the PLA President will review each nomination. Winners will be announced in February, and awards will be presented in June at the 2018 ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans, La.
