BRYN MAWR, Pennsylvania -- United for Libraries has awarded the 2017 United for Libraries/SAGE Academic Friend Conference Grants to Lisa Kippur, executive assistant to the deans at University of Colorado Boulder Libraries.
Kippur will receive $850 plus full conference registration to attend the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago. A formal presentation to the grant winners will be made at the conference at “Nuts & Bolts for Trustees, Friends and Foundations” on Friday, June 23, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
At University of Colorado Boulder Libraries, Kippur has refocused and reorganized the Friends of the Library group and forged relationships with several libraries and bookstores in the area. She revamped the group’s marketing materials and is planning several special events through 2019.
A native-born Coloradoan, Kippur studied psychology, counseling psychology and counselor education at the University of Colorado, and began working at the university after obtaining her master’s degree in education. Her career at the university has included positions in student affairs, academic affairs, and working with university administration. She also earned a certification in health coaching from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and has volunteered for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, the GLBT Community Center of Colorado and the Boulder Chamber of Commerce.
“I am honored to receive the United for Libraries/SAGE Academic Friend Conference Grant and learn more about a variety of practices that I’ll be able to incorporate in my position as Friends of the Library coordinator and executive assistant to the deans,” said Kippur.
The United for Libraries/SAGE Academic Friend Conference Grant enables a person who is active in his or her college or university Friends of the Library group, or a college/university library staff member who works in development, to attend the ALA Annual Conference for the first time.
