CHICAGO – Patricia (Patty) M. Wong, county Librarian and chief archivist of the Yolo County Library in Woodland, California, has withdrawn her candidacy for treasurer of the American Library Association (ALA) citing a family health matter requiring her full attention.

“It is with a heavy heart that I withdraw from the ALA election for Treasurer for 2016-19, for unanticipated and growing familial health reasons,” said Wong. “I appreciate the support and professional growth that ALA has afforded me and hope to return to my volunteer contributions at a later time.”

Susan H. Hildreth, executive director of the Califa Group, Pacific Library Partnership, Peninsula Library System and administrator of the NorthNet Library System in San Mateo, California, is the remaining candidate for ALA treasurer.

Ballot mailing for the 2016 ALA election will begin on March 15, 2016 and will run through April 22, 2016. Individuals must be members in good standing as of Jan. 31, 2016 in order to vote in the ALA election.
