CHICAGO — The American Library Association and SAGE announced Justin Matthew Resti will receive the 2015 Peter Lyman Memorial/SAGE Scholarship in New Media.
The Peter Lyman Memorial/SAGE Scholarship in New Media was created in memory of Peter Lyman, former university librarian and professor emeritus of the School of information at the University of California, Berkeley. Lyman’s research focused on online information, ethnographic analyses of online social relationships and communities and bringing university librarians into the digital era. He was one of the first scholars to work with computer companies to design information technology appropriate for research and teaching.
Resti has worked in libraries since receiving his undergraduate degree nearly 15 years ago. Currently, he works as a reference assistant in a law library and has distinguished himself as an inventive and highly skilled researcher. Resti’s reference said, “He is an elite researcher who brings creativity and sharp analytical skills to every research question.”
Another reference stated that “Resti has gained a reputation as a top-notch researcher, solving complex puzzles with ingenuity and determination, capable of juggling multiple projects under tight time and cost constraints. Resti has an impressive knowledge of legal bibliography and matches that with the technical savvy critical to success in our profession. He has become an integral part of the library, and is an exemplary employee who will make an exceptional librarian.”
Resti will attend the University of Maryland (College Park).
