CHICAGO — The ALA Emerging Leaders program has begun the process of preparing for the 2016 class of participants.  We are now accepting program sponsors.  Sponsorship means that an organization will provide financial support of at least $1,000 ($500 per conference) for each Emerging Leader chosen as its participant.  Sponsorship begins October 2015 and ends July 2016.

Deadline to submit form is Friday, May 29, 2015.

The American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leaders (EL) program is a leadership development program that enables newer library workers from across the country to participate in problem-solving work groups, network with peers, gain an inside look into ALA structure and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity. It puts participants on the fast track to ALA committee volunteerism as well as other professional library-related organizations.

Any ALA division, office, round table, affiliate or library-related state association may sponsor Emerging Leaders.  Individuals may also sponsor Emerging Leaders.

Anyone interested in sponsoring an Emerging Leader should submit an ‘Intent to Sponsor’ form no later than Friday, May 29, 2015.

For more information, visit the Emerging Leaders page, or contact the Emerging Leaders project manager, Beatrice Calvin at (800) 545-2433.

The Emerging Leaders program is managed by the ALA Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (HRDR).
