Registration now open for YALSA’s 2015 YA Services Symposium

Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA)
YALSA President Chris Shoemaker commented, “We are so excited to offer this event to the library community! In years past, YALSA’s symposium focused specifically on young adult literature. However, from 2015 forward the event will encompass all aspects of teen services. We feel this is a better fit for the needs of our members and the library community at-large.”
Early bird pricing begins at $199 for YALSA members and Oregon Library Association Members. The 2015 theme is “Bringing it All Together: Connecting Libraries, Teens & Communities.” Access the preliminary program and register here.
Registration for the symposium includes an opening reception on Friday evening, educational sessions on Saturday and Sunday, access to two free webinars, refreshment breaks on Saturday and Sunday, , a certificate of attendance and a symposium bag. $59 Students (enrolled full-time in a library program)
Rooms at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower are offered for a limited time at a special rate for registrants of $127 per night. Book by Oct. 1, 2015.
YALSA will also offer pre-symposium special events that require additional registration on Friday, including:
- A half-day forum on building sustainable partnerships to support youth learning ($79);
- A half-day forum on connected learning in libraries ($79);
- A half-day forum on Graphic Novels ($79);
There will also be an author luncheon on Saturday and tickets for the luncheon will be available for $49. Depending on sales, additional ticketed events may be added.
YALSA is also offering two symposium travel stipends, both worth $1000 each. One travel stipend will be awarded to a student member, while the other will be awarded to a library worker. Apply by June 15, 2015.
