2015 Teens’ Top Ten Nominees to be announced during National Library Week
For Immediate Release
CHICAGO — To celebrate National Library Week, the Young Adult Library Services (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, will officially announce the 24 nominations for its 2015 Teens’ Top Ten on April 16, the Thursday of National Library Week.
A video and list of the nominees including annotations of each title will be available on the Teens’ Top Ten website.
The Teens’ Top Ten is a “teen choice” list compiled by teens who nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year. Readers between the ages 12 and 18 are encouraged to read and vote for their favorite titles each year. The top 10 books receiving the most votes will be revealed the week of Oct. 26.
In honor of the 24 nominees being named, YALSA will give away 40 sets of the nominated books to libraries in need through its 2015 Teens’ Top Ten Book Giveaway, which is generously funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Interested applicants can apply now through May 1, 2015.
National Library Week is an annual observance in April by the American Library Association. National Library Week celebrations include the release of the ALA’s 2015 “State of America’s Libraries Report,” April 13; National Library Workers Day, April 14; and National Bookmobile Day, April 15.
For more than 50 years, YALSA has worked to build the capacity of libraries and library staff to engage, serve and empower teens.
