For Immediate Release
CHICAGO — The itinerary is set for ASCLA’s biannual fundraising trip (PDF), which will head to the French and Italian Rivieras in October 2014 — the fourth tour abroad hosted by the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
This trip abroad will take place Oct. 7-15, 2014, and all interested travelers are welcome — you do not need to be a member in order to participate. Voyagers will convene in Nice, then head to Cannes, Saint Paul de Vence, Monte Carlo, to see the historic Neo Romanesque Cathedral, the Royal Palace, Princess Caroline‘s Children’s Library and Jardins Saint Martin. Then head to San Remo on the Italian Riviera to explore the picturesque landscapes of the Mediterranean Sea with stops at the Rapallo home to literary figures Ezra Pound, T.S. Elliott, WB Yeats and Ernest Hemingway, to name a few. For the grand finale, there will be a visit to Cinque Terre, five towns known for their rustic beauty, and a quick stop in Milan before returning home
This trip follows a sold-out adventure to Paris, among other successful trips abroad. A portion of all these trips benefits ASCLA, the division of ALA serving state library agencies, specialized libraries, library cooperatives, special populations librarians and library consultants.
The cost for this trip is eight nights for $2,700 plus airfare. A portion of the trip’s proceeds benefit ASCLA. Download the trip registration form (PDF) for more information. The trip cost includes eight nights’ accommodations, eight breakfasts, five dinners, one lunch, admissions, guided tours throughout the trip and motor coach transportation. Participants are responsible for their own airfare.
Deposits in the amount of $500 are due by Aug. 1, 2014, with the balance due by Aug. 25, 2014. Checks should be made payable to Lyceum Tours. Questions about the trip should be directed to Michael Stillwell at Lyceum Tours at (856) 795-9044 via email email@example.com or the ASCLA office at (312) 280-4395 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
