CHICAGO - ALA Editions announces an exciting new workshop, Creating Successful Adult Programs, with Brett W. Lear. This workshop will last 90 minutes and take place at 2:30 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014.

No matter what type of community your library serves, the adult population is crucial to your success. Invigorating, vibrant adult programs draw new people to the library and help keep existing patrons engaged. In this workshop, Brett W. Lear, author of "Adult Programs in the Library," will show you how to build programs that align with your library’s mission, priorities and service plan. He’ll demonstrate how to assess your community’s needs so your programs respond to what’s unique about your community and in demand among your library’s patrons.

Topics include:
  • creating goals for event planning that link your events to the needs of your community;
  • developing outcome measures to ensure that your events are a good fit for your community;
  • sharing your successes with elected officials, residents and other stakeholders.
