CHICAGO — At 1 p.m. Central time on Nov. 20, the Public Library Association (PLA) will host the fourth annual "Books That Make Great Gifts with Nancy Pearl," exclusively for PLA members. This free webinar features readers’ advisory ideas members can use for themselves, share with their patrons or both.

During this hour-long presentation, Nancy will share her recommendations of some must-read adult books. She’ll also provide a downloadable handout of the recommendations for easy sharing with patrons.

Registration is free and space is limited for the live event; however all PLA members will have complimentary access to the archived recording of the webinar.

Want to know more about Nancy Pearl? It’s hard to pin her down to a single description—she’s a former librarian and book seller, an author, a radio and TV commentator, an RA trainer—the list goes on! She frequently speaks to library and community groups across the country and she regularly recommends books on NPR’s Morning Edition, as well as on many public radio station programs. She entertains and informs standing-room only crowds, and she’s even had a librarian action figure modeled in her likeness. Some of Nancy’s books include "Book Crush: For Kids and Teens – Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Interest"; "Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Interest"; and "Book Lust to Go: Recommended Reading for Travelers, Vagabonds, and Dreamers." She also has partnered with Amazon Publishing to develop Book Lust Rediscoveries, a series devoted to reprinting some of the best, out-of-print novels originally published between 1960 and 2000.

PLA is a division of the American Library Association. PLA’s core purpose is to strengthen public libraries and their contribution to the communities they serve.
