CHICAGO - The first module in ASCLA’s AccessAbility Academy helps librarians with a critical component of making the library an empowering place for the entire community.

The new tutorial “Positive Interactions: Making the Library a Welcoming and Empowering Place for People with Disabilities” prepares library staff to feel fully confident when communicating and interacting with people with disabilities.  It is designed for library staff at academic, public and special libraries, including support staff, general professional staff, age-level or subject specialists, managers and administrators.

With the purchase of this recorded tutorial, librarians receive tips to help employees communicate and interact with people with disabilities, strategies for interacting and building relationships with library users with disabilities and a solid understanding of how diverse types of disabilities impact the way people use the library and its resources.

The price for ASCLA members is $29; the price for non-ASLCA members is $59.  For more information on pricing for organizations, visit the “Positive Interactions” website.
