CHICAGO — ALA President Maureen Sullivan, Executive Director Keith Michael Fiels, and the Committee on Membership Meetings (COMM) invite all ALA personal members to register for and to participate in ALA’s annual online Virtual Membership Meeting (VMM13) on Wednesday, June 6th from 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. CDT.
The meeting will begin with a “State of the Association” update and a recap of initiatives during Ms. Sullivan’s Presidential year, an update about ALA’s 2015 Strategic Plan from Executive Director Keith Michael Fiels, and a financial update by James (Jim) Neal, ALA Treasurer. These updates will be followed by an opportunity for registrants to discuss (via text chat) and vote on any resolutions or testimonials offered by members. Only current personal members may vote. Any remaining time will be used as an open forum for chat about topics of interest as ranked by members via a poll. The top topics will be announced during the meeting. Live captioning will be provided for all participants.
The webinar is limited to 1,000 registrants, so pre-registration is required. Registration is now open and is available through the start of the meeting on June 6. A dedicated ALA webpage: ala.org/membership/vmm, as well the Member ALA Connect Group contain all relevant documents and links, the current meeting agenda, the Guidelines for Preparation of Resolutions for ALA Virtual Membership Meetings, and the opportunity for members to chat and share ideas prior to June 6. You will also be able to register directly from the ALA webpage dedicated to VMM13.
If you plan on submitting a resolution, you must follow the guidelines. Please note that resolutions must be submitted no later than May 30, 2012, 3 p.m. CDT. See the guidelines found on both the VMM page of the ALA Website or on ALA Connect for complete details.
The meeting will end promptly at 4:30 p.m. CDT. The meeting session will remain open for an additional 15 minutes to allow members to complete any chats in which they are involved.
