CHICAGO - Free career counseling sessions and resume review help will be provided from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26 and 27, 2013 in the ALA JobLIST Placement Center during the American Library Association’s (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Seattle.  The sessions will be held in the JobLIST Placement Center which will be located on Level 4, Hall E, in the front of Aisle 300 of the Washington State Convention Center.

Any conference attendee can start or recharge his career by meeting with a professional career counselor.  The counselor can guide you in strategizing for the first or next phase of your career, solving a problem in your current job situation, defining goals and/or rejuvenating your career. Each one-on-one session is 20 minutes and is completely confidential.

This free service is provided as part of ALA’s continuing efforts to help job seekers retool their skills and prepare for job searches. The ALA JobLIST Placement Center hosts Caitlin Williams, Ph.D., a career development consultant and coach. Williams works with individuals and organizations to create and implement professional development initiatives. She focuses on helping professionals leverage their talents in ways that truly make a difference. As faculty at San Jose State University, she instructs aspiring counselors in the Counselor Education master’s program.

Advance sign-up is now being accepted.

In addition, the New Members Round Table of ALA will provide conference attendees with resume help.  Experienced reviewers will look at resumes and give constructive feedback based on specific areas of interest.

Sign up now for an appointment in advance.

Conference attendees may also sign up on-site for both career counseling and resume assistance in the ALA JobLIST Placement Center.
