CHICAGO — Effective April, 1, 2013, online access to Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd ed. will be available exclusively through RDA Toolkit. Access to AACR2 will no longer be included in the Cataloger’s Desktop subscription price.
An online version of AACR2 has been included in RDA Toolkit since its launch in June 2010, and this change will not increase the RDA Toolkit subscription price. Subscribers to both Cataloger’s Desktop and RDA Toolkit will continue to be able to access AACR2 through Cataloger’s Desktop. This mirrors how Cataloger’s Desktop subscribers currently access RDA: Resource Description and Access directly through the Cataloger’s Desktop interface.
In recognition of AACR2 as an important tool for catalogers during the transition to RDA and for the foreseeable future, AACR2 in RDA Toolkit will be enhanced in December 2012 with links to the following cataloging-related documents:
Cartographic Materials[source: Cataloger's Desktop]
Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Books)[source: Cataloger's Desktop]
Library of Congress Rule Interpretations[source: Cataloger's Desktop]
Library and Archive Canada Rule Interpretations[source: LAC website]
Beginning April 2013, subscribers to both RDA Toolkit and Cataloger's Desktop will benefit from bidirectional links between the two products. Subscriptions to both products will allow for seamless access to RDA Toolkit (RDA and AACR2) from Cataloger’s Desktop and linking from RDA Toolkit to Cataloger's Desktop (CM, DCRMB and LCRI).
