CHICAGO — Library professionals suddenly tasked with selecting resources in new and unfamiliar subject areas have two new books and webinars to help them from the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS).
ALCTS Publishing has released two new guides: "Sudden Selector’s Guide to Biology Resources" by Flora G. Shrode and "Sudden Selector’s Guide to Chemistry Resources" by Elizabeth Brown. Available in both print and PDF e-book in the ALA Online Store. These guides offer an abundance of resources for new or seasoned science selectors and are reasonably priced at $28.50.
Shrode and Brown will present an ALCTS webinar based on each author’s guide, including an overview of the resources, the challenges in producing a Sudden Selector’s guide and the opportunity to address specific questions from attendees about selecting for science collections. To register for the webinars, visit the ALCTS Online Learning page.
The Sudden Selector’s Guide Series was launched in 2007 with "Sudden Selector’s Guide to Business Resources" by Robin Bergart and Vivian Lewis, followed by "Guide #2, Sudden Selector’s Guide to Communications Studies Resources" by Lisa Romero, in 2008. All of these titles are available in the ALA Online Store.
ALCTS is a division of the American Library Association.
