ALA Virtual Membership Meeting 2012 on June 6
CHICAGO —ALA President Molly Raphael and Executive Director Keith Michael Fiels invite all members of the American Library Association to participate in the Association’s first online Virtual Membership Meeting from
3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, June 6.
The meeting will begin with a “State of the Association” update, a progress report on implementing ALA’s 2015 Strategic Plan and a recap of initiatives during President Raphael’s term. These updates will be followed by an opportunity to discuss and vote on any resolutions offered by members and an open forum on topics chosen by members in a recent online survey. Topics include E-books and Libraries, the Transformation of Libraries and Improving the Role of Libraries in Society.
The iLINC interactive Web platform is limited to 1,000 participants, so pre-registration is required. Registration is now open and available through the start of the meeting on June 6. Please go to ALA’s iLINC space to register. Live captioning will be provided for all participants.
The ALA Members Connect group contains relevant documents, the meeting agenda and, most importantly, the Guidelines for Preparation of Resolutions for ALA Virtual Membership Meetings. If you plan on submitting a resolution, you will need to follow these guidelines. Please note that resolutions must be submitted no later than
3 p.m. CDT on May 30, 2012. To submit a resolution please send email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
