ALTAFF to host ‘Nuts & Bolts for Academic Friends Groups’ at ALA Annual Conference

PHILADELPHIA — The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), will host “Nuts & Bolts for Academic Friends Groups”  from 10:30 a.m. - noon PDT at the Anaheim Convention Center, 205B, on Saturday, June 23 at the 2012 ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim,Calif.

Join this discussion to learn about starting a Friends group in an academic setting, discuss best practices and share materials. The session will be lead by Charles Hanson, director of library services, Kettering University, Flint, Mich. Hanson’s library career has included management positions in university, public and special libraries, including involvement in fundraising and support. He is currently president of the Friends of Michigan Libraries and its Trustee Alliance. Hanson served on the ALTAFF board from 2008-2001 and on the board of Friends of Libraries U.S.A. from 2005-2008. He received an award of excellence from the Michigan Library Association in 2010.
