Anne Macdonald wins RUSA BRASS award supporting business reference librarian travel to ALA Annual Conference

CHICAGO — Anne Macdonald, business librarian, Poudre River Public Library District, is the 2012 recipient of the RUSA BRASS Morningstar Public Librarian Support Award—an Annual Conference travel grant presented by the Reference and User Services Association’s (RUSA) Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS) and generously sponsored by Morningstar, Inc.

This annual RUSA BRASS award is presented to a librarian with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career as a business reference librarian and the potential to be a leader in the profession.

“Anne Macdonald is instrumental in the local business community in Fort Collins,” said Melissa Jeter, award committee chair. “The partnerships and success stories demonstrate the importance of librarian outreach to assisting the economic development of her community.”

Macdonald has worked as a business librarian at Poudre River Public Library District in Fort Collins, Colo. since 2007. Prior to this, she served as executive director, manager and grant writer at Arts Alive, also based in Fort Collins, from 2001-2005. She earned her MLS from the University of Washington and also earned a certificate in administrative organization from the University of Washington School of Business’s Summer Institute.

The award, a $1,000 cash prize, will be presented at the RUSA Awards Reception, scheduled for 5 - 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24 as a part of RUSA’s events at the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif.
