Popular characters and exciting campaign themes headline the ALA Graphics summer catalog

CHICAGO — The new ALA Graphics catalog introduces products to help schools and libraries enhance everyday programming and prepare for major fall events.
Two treasured children’s characters take center stage as the stars of new illustrated posters and bookmarks. The Frankie Pickle poster highlights the imaginative world of books, and the Yoko Learns to Read poster pictures the time-honored pleasure of reading to a child, or, in Yoko’s case, allowing a child to read to you.
Captivating new designs for Teen Read Week™ and Banned Books Week lay the foundation for strong programming and promotions. In honor of the 30th anniversary of Banned Books Week, two dramatic poster designs, Banned and Forbidden, buttons and double-sided bookmarks will help libraries, schools and community groups celebrate the freedom to read Sept. 30–Oct. 6. For the first time, this year’s T-shirt will be offered in both men’s and women’s styles.
It Came from the Library, YALSA’s 2012 Teen Read Week theme, is highlighted in a spooky poster. A coordinating bookmark pack features two designs to encourage teens to visit their library and read for the fun of it this Oct. 14-20. Offering even more opportunity for celebration, the new Teen Read Week Manual, developed by YALSA’s Teen Read Week committee, is a rich reference for advocacy, book lists, display and programming ideas and includes digital files for websites and flyers.
As libraries prepare for Library Card Sign-Up Month in September, the new poster and bookmark make a perfect pair to encourage all potential patrons to sign up and put the smartest card in their wallet.
Also this season, the bright blue Love My Library logo becomes a bookmark and vinyl sticker and joins the Love My Library buttons and pens as popular incentives showcasing the wide and accessible appeal of all libraries.
