ALTAFF to host Nuts & Bolts for Trustees, Friends and Foundations at ALA Annual Conference

PHILADELPHIA –  The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), will host “Nuts & Bolts for Trustees, Friends and Foundations” from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. PDT on Friday, June 22 at the 2012 ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif.

ALTAFF’s popular Nuts & Bolts program is designed to inspire Trustees, Friends and Foundations and equip them with the latest techniques for fundraising, advocacy and more. Speakers will include Cheryl Gould of Fully Engaged Libraries; April Butcher, executive director of the Sacramento (Calif.) Public Library Foundation; Sally Gardner Reed, executive director of ALTAFF; Marci Merola, director of ALA’s Office for Library Advocacy, Lynn Slawsky of the Public Library Association and Deborah Stone from ALA’s Office of Intellectual Freedom, who will discuss current hot topics.

Roundtable discussions will be held on such topics as book sales, fundraising, working with the library director and baby boomer volunteers.

Featured guest will be David Levinson, author of "Everyone Helps, Everyone Wins."  Levinson is the founder and executive director of Big Sunday, organizing 50,000+ volunteers throughout California. Profiled by The Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times and NBC Nightly News, he was named Best Nonprofit Leader by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver and California Volunteers.

The day will begin with coffee at 9:30 a.m.; the lunch break (on your own) is from 12:15-1:15 p.m.
