CHICAGO - Following the release of the Every Child Ready to Read® @ your library® Second Edition, the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Public Library Association (PLA) are offering a new webinar to update librarians on the new product: Every Child to Ready: New Conversations on Research, Relationships and Partnerships. The webinar will be offered on three different occasions in February, March and April.

Every Child Ready to Read continues a commitment to research and introduces a powerful concept of constrained and unconstrained skill sets to initiate conversations with parents and caregivers. The 2nd edition utilizes natural language and a flexible format to encourage a more interactive way for library staff to work with caregivers and to create new ways for parents to interact with their children. Community and staff partnerships are a staple of ECRR, and  the 90-minute webinar will discuss research, new ways to relate to customers, partners and community members using the new tools provided by ECRR.

The webinar will take place from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. CST on Feb. 16; from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. CST on March 8; and from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. CST on April 12. It will run for approximately 90 minutes and include time for Q&A. The webinar will be presented three times to offer participants more scheduling options; participants should plan on attending only one of the dates mentioned. To register for the webinar visit the ALSC Webinars site.  Webinar fees are $45 for ALSC and PLA members; $55 for non-members and $195 for groups.

The webinar is being taught by Elaine Meyers, who is a public library consultant in King Ferry, N.Y. She served on the Every Child Ready to Read Task Force and as a consultant for the second edition. Her areas of expertise are youth services planning, evaluation and staff training.

Please contact Jenny Najduch, ALSC program officer, with questions at jnajduch@ala.org or (800) 545-2433, ext. 4026. Space in the webinar is limited, and registration is currently open.
