CHICAGO – The deadline to apply for the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Donation Grant has been extended to Jan.31, 2012.

Awarded by the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Committee, the grant provides books submitted for consideration for the Coretta Scott King Book Awards to libraries and other organizations to expand their collections. Each year, three organizations are selected that demonstrate need and potential benefit from receiving the collection.  The donation consists of approximately 100 titles, including a full set of the year’s Coretta Scott King Book Award winner and honor books. Eligible applicants may include libraries, schools, social service agencies, prisons or detention centers, religious organizations and institutions of higher education.  Winners will be notified in early March.

The Ethnic and Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table (EMIERT) has been an active force in ALA for over 30 years. EMIERT organizes task forces, institutes and workshops and programs at ALA Annual Conference that deal with key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
