PHILADELPHIA – The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), has made special pricing for its Trustee Academy available to state library agencies. The state of Utah recently joined Nebraska and Kansas in making the Trustee Academy available for its libraries through a multiple use purchase.

ALTAFF has developed pricing to be attractive to states or regions who want to purchase the series as a way to assist in fulfilling their mission for Trustee education.  The prices for state or region-wide purchase are highly discounted and extremely reasonable – as low as $59 per library for the full Board of Trustees and the library director to complete all five Trustee Academy courses.

“The Utah State Library is proud to offer access to ALTAFF’s Trustee Academy to all Utah library board members, library directors and designated staff,” said Donna Jones Morris, state librarian and director of the Utah State Library Division. “This premium online course enhances our training delivery methods for library Trustees. It offers convenient, high-quality, highly-relevant content to help us lead Utah libraries in the 21st century.  This resource will be available to hundreds of Utahns serving on library boards, and to key staff working in public libraries.”

“It can be difficult to ensure that our library Trustees are fully prepared to lead and serve effectively as governors and/or advisors to our libraries,” said Rod Wagner, director of the Nebraska Library Commission and ALTAFF secretary/treasurer. “I am extremely proud to serve on the board of an organization that has produced a high-quality series of webcasts that gives Trustees everything from the basics, to advocacy, to understanding the library’s budget, to working effectively with the library’s director.”
