CHICAGO — Micquel Little, access services librarian at St. John Fisher College, is the 2011 recipient of the Reference and User Services Association’s (RUSA) STARS/Atlas Systems Mentoring Award, an ALA Conference travel award designated for those who are new to the field of interlibrary loan.

This award, sponsored by Atlas Systems, Inc. and the Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section (STARS) of RUSA, offers $1,000 to fund travel expenses associated with attending ALA’s Annual Conference. The recipient will be a library practitioner who has worked in the field of interlibrary loan/document delivery or electronic reserves for less than two years, with a daily, hands-on involvement in the areas of borrowing, lending, document delivery, electronic reserves, material delivery or resource sharing.

Little, who earned her MLS from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, stood out among a pool of excellent applicants because of her active involvement in her local resource sharing community through the Information Delivery Services (IDS) Project.

“Micquel has already proven that she’s eager to be an active participant in the resource sharing community," said award committee chair Collette Mak. “She’s exactly who this award is designed for, to help bring that enthusiastic energy to the national level.”

Little was honored at the RUSA Awards Reception at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans. More information about this award is available at the RUSA website.
