In this unique, first-of-its-kind workshop, Jason Vaughan and Tamera Hanken from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Libraries will take you through the entire process of evaluating, purchasing and implementing Web scale discovery services. You'll gain a knowledge of this cutting-edge technology that you can apply right away.
Vaughan and Hanken will use their process at University of Nevada-Las Vegas as a model. You’ll learn how to substantively evaluate Web scale discovery services and to plan, communicate and coordinate with your staff and patrons to ensure successful implementation, regardless of which vendor you choose to work with.

April July 13 and April July 20. Each session will last 90 minutes.
Jason Vaughan is the director of library technologies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he oversees three units within the UNLV University Libraries: Digital Collections, Library Systems and Web and Application Development Services. He has published extensively on library and library technology topics and has spoken on Web scale discovery at the local, state and national conferences. Vaughan earned his MLS and BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Tamera Hanken is the director of technical services for the University Libraries at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she is responsible for the overall administration and coordination of the work of three contiguous departments: Materials Ordering and Receiving; Bibliographic and Metadata Services and Access and Delivery Services. Her work experience includes 15 years in library technical services within a variety of library settings: academic, public, international, government, for profit and not for profit. She holds an MLS from Texas Woman’s University, an MPA from Troy University, and a graduate certificate in Supply Chain Management from University of Alaska.
