For Immediate Release
CHICAGO — Reluctant YA readers are everywhere — except maybe in your library. Join the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on June 24 in New Orleans for “Give Them What They Want: Reaching Reluctant Readers” and find out how to turn reluctant readers into active readers who know your library inside and out. You do not need to register for ALA’s Annual Conference to attend this workshop.
Attendees at this pre-Annual Conference workshop will:
- Learn strategies for reaching today’s teen reluctant readers through collection development, marketing, outreach and more
- Explore ways to get more teens reading and using the library, from passive programs to use of Web 2.0 tools
- Find out best practices from colleagues and
- Hear what popular YA authors — including Walter Dean Myers, Julie Halpern, and Chris Grabenstein — have to say about how their work speaks to today’s teens
Tickets for this half-day preconference cost $129 and include light refreshments.
