Celebrate the best teen reading of 2011 with YALSA’s Best of the Best
CHICAGO — Librarians, educators, parents, teens and other young adult literature enthusiasts looking for the best teen books and media of 2011 can find them online at YALSA’s new Best of the Best website, www.ala.org/yalsa/best. In addition to lists of YALSA’s awards and top ten lists, the Best of the Best homepage includes promotional tools featuring the award-winning 2011 books.
The Best of the Best includes:
- A complete list of all of YALSA’s book and media award winners, including the Alex, Edwards, Morris, Nonfiction, Odyssey and Printz Awards
- The Top Ten lists from YALSA’s Amazing Audiobooks for Young Adults, Best Fiction for Young Adults, Great Graphic Novels for Teens, Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults and Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers
- Downloadable tools for librarians to promote the awards, including logos to use on websites, print projects and social media; customizable bookmarks for all of the awards and Top Ten lists; and bookplates and spine labels for librarians to print and apply to 2011 Best of the Best designees.
“Adults who are interested in helping teens to find quality reading materials will find valuable assistance in YALSA’s Best of the Best lists,” said Kim Patton, YALSA president. “The field of publishing for young adults is growing and our Best of the Best tools share the best of all of the materials that are published for teens.”
Funding to produce the marketing materials for the Best of the Best comes from The Friends of YALSA, which supports a different action area each year. Funds raised in 2011 will support promoting teen literature.
